Singani 63
The brainchild of acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh, this clear 80-proof spirit is distilled from the Muscatel grapes of Alexandria and is the national drink of Bolivia. Steven fell in love with this highly mixable (and potent) drink while shooting CHE. He spent 7 years getting the rights to import Singani for the very first time in history into the US. I had the great opportunity to lead the concept, creative direction, design, and strategy of the US launch with Steven as my creative partner and copywriter.

Without a budget for advertising, the often overlooked sales and collateral materials are where we had a lot of fun. We made use of underutilized spaces to add elements of surprise through witty, laugh-out-loud copy and unexpected design choices making the brand stand out where it initially needed to—in the hands of those who would distribute, stock, and sell our booze. Those in this industry know that shelf space is at a premium. Standing out is a must and if it has to be done through a sales sheet, then let it be the best damn sales sheet they will ever come across. We created POS and event signage + materials such as coasters, shelf-talkers, sell sheets, industry editorial inserts, print ads, bottle neckers, movie placements, social media and a brand website.

Nice things people have said about our work:
Fast Company "The first, unofficial ad for the product has the retro look of something that David Ogilvy might have put together after becoming invisible."
Artnet.com "Its marketing is brilliant."
Manero.com "Singani 63’s burgeoning popularity lies mostly in ad strategy."

Singani 63 Recipe Booklet / Bottle Necker

A bottle necker that doubles as a unique collectible recipe booklet. This point of sale value add utilized illustration instead of shiny cocktail images to stand out among a sea of sameness in the liquor category. We recruited and partnered with high-profile mixologists to create recipes using the spirit.

Singani 63 Sell Sheet

We created a sales piece that would stand out in a saturated marketplace. The concept that I came up with utilized a vintage folder that allowed for easy customization of the materials included in the sell sheet based on the demographic to get the most bang for our buck without having to print different versions of the sales materials. Click on the thumbnails below to read the copy and view all the easter eggs planted throughout the piece.

Shelf Talker

Steven decided to poke fun at himself in this POS placement, which is one of the things I enjoyed most about working with him as my creative partner. A million Oscar nominations and the guy is still humble as apple pie. I sourced illustrations from vintage ephemera throughout our creative for a unique look/theme and to save us money since we had zero budget!

Singnai 63 Creative Content

We made some weird, random shit….Below is a grab bag of content that Steven and I created during the initial year of distribution in the US to be used for social content, promotions, etc.
